The objective the story began with
In the first season, Tau was the Orokin’s colonial answer to a resource crisis. The Sentients were created to prepare it, became a people on the voyage, and rebelled to defend the world they had built. The families of the Zariman fell into the Void trying to reach that same objective; that is how the Tenno were born.
Sixty chapters later Tau stands before us again. But it is no longer a distant prize; it is the Sentients’ homeland, the battlefield the Operator suppressed, and part of Albrecht’s route against The Indifference.
What exactly has opened?
The Old Peace opens access to the Tau memories and to the Dark Refractory. The Perita Rebellion makes that front playable. This is the narrative road opening decisively; it does not mean that in the current state the whole Tau system can be visited as an ordinary Star Chart region.
CURRENT CANON — The official announcement says The Old Peace “sets the ground for the next great chapter”. This series does not write unannounced events as finished story; this finale will be updated when the new quest arrives.
What the circle means
In the past the Orokin wanted to own Tau. The Tenno’s future journey need not repeat that mistake. The Operator approaches not as a conqueror but as someone facing their own past and the truth of the Sentients. The Drifter, meanwhile, carries the experience that can open unknown doors in Albrecht’s plan across time.
Lotus, or Natah, is the child of two worlds: the Sentient Tau and the Tenno Origin. The final road is therefore not only geographic but a reckoning of family and identity.
Who reached Tau, and who did not?
The Sentient vanguard completed a long interstellar voyage and transformed the system. The Zariman colonists tried to reach the same objective by the short road through the Void, and were lost. The Orokin armies and the Tenno reached the Tau fronts of the Old War; The Old Peace restores the Operator’s experience of that to current canon.
Those three roads are not the same purpose. The Sentients went to build a homeland, the colonists to begin a new human life, the Orokin war forces to seize control. The moral meaning of whatever step the Tenno take in future depends on which road they repeat.
Lotus’s possible role
Lotus, or Natah, is a member of the Tau-born Sentient family and the chosen mother of the Tenno. She stands between her past with Hunhow, Erra and Praghasa and her present with the Operator and the Drifter. If the return to Tau is only a military route, her conflict of identity cannot be resolved. She is the most important person able to speak between the Sentient homeland and the Origin System.
Choosing her own name in The New War is a preparation for that future. Whether she returns to Tau as Natah, guides the Tenno as Lotus, or carries both identities together, a shared question remains regardless of the player’s choice: is family determined by birth or by choice?
Why is The Indifference on the road to Tau?
As Albrecht’s trail reaches towards Tau, the threat of The Indifference stands around the plan. Why the being wants Tau, or what is there, has not been definitively explained. The Old Peace shows “the road lies ahead” while leaving unfinished ground around the final enemy and objective.
Filling that uncertainty by writing fan theory as canon would break the series’ reliability. So chapter 60 does not close with an invented finale. It brings together all the known past, explains the present limit of access, and leaves the narrative door open for the next official quest.
The Warframe universe does not end here; this chronological archive will grow with current canon. The first 60 chapters build the solid foundation for understanding where every new event comes from.
What did we learn in this chapter?
The first great arc of the Warframe main story draws a circle: machines created to reach Tau, children lost in the Void and a fallen Orokin order finally converge on the same objective. The road is open; what the arrival becomes will be decided by the official story to come.
This is not the end. The chronicle at WarframeTR will continue with chapter 61 when the next quest is released.
